I'm getting fit and healthy not skinny

When I started my weightloss journey that was what it was...i wanted to lose weight.  I wanted to be a smaller size in jeans, I wanted to be a smaller number on the scales.

Since then I have changed.....yes it has been a gradual change, it has happened as I have lost dress sizes and the number on the scales has gone down.

Now its not about those numbers on the scale.  I can honestly say I don't care what they say.  I go by the numbers on the measuring tape.  I go by the number on how far I have ran, or how much weight I lifted, or how fast I ran, or how long it took in class before i had to stop for a break.

I go by how much I worked when I was in class or the gym.

I go by how much sweat I was covered in when I left the gym.

How do you judge things??

28 February 2014

Its nice when ppl recognise that you have done something well, or have been trying hard at something.

Today two of the ppl I work with congratulated me on how much weight I have lost, how well I am looking and how much fitter they think I am now.

I was pleasantly surprised, cos other ppl I work with have mentioned it, but they never have.

I have worked hard over this past year, so I am glad ppl can notice.

What about you?  Do you like it when ppl point out ur weight loss?

At the start I hated it, I felt like ppl were staring at me, and commenting on me and I got quite annoyed.  But I am proud now of how far I have come.

I am proud that I can run for a mile now without stopping.  Proud that I can finish a 5k.  Proud that I have lost over 4stone and 3 dress sizes.

31 January 2014

Spin class done and dusted, with a wee bit of ab work and then into work.  And all before 8.30am.

And my big news today (big to me anyway) is that I have lost another 3lb.  That brings my total weight loss, in 13 months to 4st 5lb.  I am happy beyond belief.

Yes, I realise that people can lose weight a lot faster than that, and that is a really long period of time, but I believe that it took a long time to gain the weight, why should losing it be any quicker?

I have steadily and consistently lost weight.  I have not put any back on.

I am working out and gaining fitness.

I am changing my life.

And I love it.

It is hard work, I won't lie to you.  Anyone that says differently either doesn't have that much to lose, or is lying.  But when I see those scales going down, when I see I have to buy a smaller size pair of jeans, when I see that I can go further on the treadmill, or go faster up the stairs at work, every minute of working out, sweating like a pig and feeling hungry is worth it.

If you are on this journey too I take my hat off to you.  Keep going.  You can do it.

And if you wanna talk, drop me a line.  I would be more than happy to speak to you about it.

13 November 2013

Well this whole weight loss thing has plateaued.

3 1/2 stone down and I have just stopped losing.

Everyone is coming up with different ideas about what I should do now....from eat more for a week, your metabolism will speed up then when you cut down again you will lose weight once more.  Or only eat protein for a week, this is bound to make a difference because it worked for my cousin's girlfriend's brother.  Or go on a smoothie diet.  Or just exercise more.

I don't know what to do.

I try and speak to myself like I would to a girlfriend.  Its ok Tina, you are still on the right path.  You haven't put weight on.  You are not in a race.  You are becoming healthier and fitter.  You are better than you were before.

BUT

You know what?  All I want to do is scream and cry and go pout in a corner because the weight loss has stopped.

PHEW

Now I have said it and shared it hopefully I can concentrate on working on me again.

Having said that, if you have any suggestions I really would love to hear them

E mail me or just drop me a comment

Thanx :-)

July 2 2013

Went to the gym again yesterday..big surprise I hear you all say.  Well I got weighed and measured and have lost another 2lb since last week.  :-)  Yay for me.

I have lost 3inches off my waist since the end of May too.  :-)

I still have a long way to go.

This body is by no means beach ready, but looking back over old pics I can really see how far I have come.

I am not quite ready to post before and after pics.  I figure that will be when I get to a decent weight and size, but that day is coming a whole lot closer.

R and baby girl are so proud of me.  I am proud too.  It has taken time and a lot of work, but you know what, time passes anyway, so why not do ssomething with that time??

The girls at the gym have asked if they can do a before and after spread on me too.  I said yeah, but just not quite yet.  Maybe once I lose another 3 stone.

Did I tell you that in 4 lbs I will have lost 3 stone.  Thats nearly 19 kilo or 38 lbs I have lost since January.

What else has been happening?  Not much actually.  R went out last night to go-karting with his friends from work.  He came in 15th out of 16 people!  As he put it, too many years of safe driving for him to act silly on a track.  I think he liked it tho!

I am going to Pirate Golf on Friday evening with some girl friends.  Crazy Golf with pirates, fancy dress optional....well that means I am going in my jeans.  No dressing up for me.

I hope you have a great day.  I know that news of my continued weight loss has made me have a great big smile on my face.

May 2 2013

Sorry for neglecting you again random peeps who read my little outlook on my world.

This dang gym thing has been comsuming me and I havenm't had time for much else.

Me and R went to see a play on Tuesday evening called "Love, Billy".  It is a play set in Belfast, Northern Ireland and was FUNNY!!

It is a follow up on a series of plays that was on the BBC way back in 82-84 featuring Kenneth Brannagh.  This was on in the gorgeous Lyric Theatre in Belfast and featured Joe McGann.

And I realised this is probably too many links, but sure, its done now!!

The gym work, as I said, is consuming me.  Its pretty much all I think about.  It is hard!!

I have been working 5 or 6 days a week at the gym, and my body aches now.  I am taking a night off tonight tho.  And having a take out Indian meal!

Since January I have lost 2st in weight.  People are starting to notice now.  Today one of the girls in work stopped me to say how glamorous I was looking and how well I was looking.  Yesterday some of the other girls commented how they could see the weight coming off.  And on Saturday my friend told me she was jealous that I had lost weight and looked so good.

I am, not there yet, believe me, I still have A LOT of weight to loose (about another 5 or 6 stone)  I am WAY too overweight and this year I am determined to lose it.

If you have any tips or advice I would love to hear it.  Have you a tale to tell of how you lost weight?  Anything I should try that works?  Even just some encouragement would be welcomed.

Its hard work.  Some days I just don't want to do it.  It is so much easier to lie on the couch eating and drinking, but that isn't healthy for me.  I want to be fit and able to do things instead of being too tired and unfit to do anything.

This year is my year.

I will do it.

I am doing it.
